Day 7 Lucerne is stunning...

I had purchased tickets online to Lucerne for 10am...so after a good night of sleep we walked to the Zurich train station. An hour later we arrived and Tony met us at the Lucerne train station. He is a young part time student who works at a hotel. He is over the top nice and energetic, which makes up for the tiny sofa couch Dave and I will be sharing in his apartment.

After a quick lunch, we had an AMAZING adventure hiking up Rigi mountain. Seeing the Swiss alps from up high was awesome, and the incredible views to the many small lake towns were breathtaking. The dang phone cameras won't do any of these justice...

To get to our hike, we rode an old steam boat for an hour to a town called Vitznau. From there, we took a super steep train ride up to a mid point area where we began our hike to  the summit. Between walking all over London and Paris, and now these nice hikes in Switzerland, we should be ready for the Camino pilgrimage in Spain in a few weeks, where we will be covering 10-20 miles per day carrying our backpacks!

It is around 7PM and we made it back to our  flat where we met Tony's roommate. Evening should be chill since we are worn out...although Tony did invite us go out later...we'll see.

I (John) am looking very scruffy..."no shave May"  started just after my London meeting was over!! I should look like quite the pilgrim the time this is over.

Dave just video hung out with Hope, so he just got real happy. I snuck a call to my sweet Mitzi from the top of the alps earlier, so not complaining!

So about an hour after we got back to the apartment, we decided it would be best to walk around and see the sunset, as well as grab a light dinner. Well, winded up not getting a light dinner, but one of the best meals of the trip so far. We found what was the most hole in the wall place in existence, where you had to walk up an ally and then walk into a spiral staircase to get to the restaurant. We walked into A classy Italian restaurant, and were probably the most underdressed people there. We almost turned around, we had walked around for a while, so decided to stay there . We looked at the menu, and are pleasantly surprised that the prices were reasonable (for Lucerne). Dad ordered a lasagna and I ordered spaghetti carbonara. Delicious!

...

When we got back to the apartment around 10 PM , our host Tony and his roommate Dominique invited us upstairs to sit on the outside terrace. It was cold, but we enjoyed several hours of conversation from life  to politics to our different upbringings. Dave also entertained us for a bit with some songs. Very unique experience and what we were hoping for at some of our stops on this trip. They mentioned inviting us to go hiking tomorrow and then having a traditional fondue at night. Stay tuned!
