Day 6 Zurich

We have been used to going to bed around 1 or 2 am and getting up around 9 or 10, so it was an abrupt awakening at 5:15 this morning when the alarm went off!  With a 7:11am departure from Paris Gare Lyon, we needed that early of a start.

Subways into Paris at that time of the morning are empty, so no issues getting there in plenty of time...in fact, we are on the high speed train towards Zurich as I Swype this post.

Dave and I are getting along fine. I was wondering if he would tire of his old man after spending every minute of the day together, but so far so good. He is very low maintenance and content just to be on the journey.

In preparation for The Camino walk, we are getting 2 to 5 miles of walking per day. My knees, shins and ankles are feeling it!
...

When we arrived in Zurich, we were totally discombobulated. Not only that, but the tram map was really hard to read. So we asked a  guy, and he helped us figure out where we wanted to go. His name was Thomas, he was a software developer from Zürich. We found the place we are staying at which is really awesome and left our bags there. Cliff, our host, is a really awesome guy . He is an artist, and is very hip and young. So we went into the city and tried to find our way around.

After initially being very confused by the cities layout, we found a very beautiful part of the city. It was one of the most breathtaking places we've been to yet. So we sat in the park and listened to a violinist play for a while, and just talked and  had a good rest. Then, we saw China ( the the picture below). We saw a boat pull-up to a dock, and got on. Easy enough. It was actually a taxi boat, and we had day passes for any city transportation.

After riding the taxi boat around the lake, we found  our way to a series of cobblestone roads . They were narrow and lined with charming old buildings. We found a small Chinese restaurant and decided to eat there. It was a little odd considering we were in Switzerland, but somehow it worked.

After a long stroll down by the river we arrived to our apartment where I met our host . (David decided to read a book in the nearby park). She helped me print our train ticket for tomorrow and gave me some suggestions for things to do in the evening. We ended up deciding to go back to the inner city and found an authentic Spanish tapas restaurant, where we decided to end our adventure with a couple of cañas and pulpo.
